In “Days of Honor and Honesty,” Malone chronicles her life journey, from a childhood in the newly independent Ireland of the 1930s, to her sacrifices in attaining her ambition of becoming a missionary in Africa. To this end, she became a nun and endured the rigors of medical school in preparation for her role as a doctor in a remote area in Kenya. She also details her crisis of faith, leading to 13 years of soul searching “to reach nirvana.”
“I believe millennials have no concept of what it was like to grow up and prosper without the amenities of the electronic age; [the book] portrays how a life dedicated to the welfare of others can be meaningful and fulfilling,” Malone says.
Through “Days of Honor and Honesty,” the author aims to remind readers that all things are possible with determination to conquer fears, and taking risks that time and circumstance present to a person.
