Shawn Rae’s New Modern Version Upcoming Release of Puppet Man Spawns Nostalgia
(PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- Shawn Rae, who grew up in the 70’s and was a part of the music scene brings us memories of some carefree times when this style of music was king. The song was originally co-written by the Fifth Dimension and Neil Sedaka and was released in 1970. It was considered to be in the new genre of Funk or Soul and is sometimes considered to be an outgrowth from the R&B label. Funk music of the 1970’s was characterized by its outrageous costumes and personalities, very danceable rhythms, and often times socially cognizant lyrics. Shawn is releasing this new modern version of Puppet Man to honor this era and its distinctive style of music and costume.
Shawn Rae’s voice; a sultry baritone, lends a believable side to the lyrics in the song. The song communicates the story of a man who is so captivated by a woman that he is rendered helpless, and so refers to himself as a mere marionette or puppet. Shawn’s masculine voice makes it all the more irresistible to imagine one so strong in stature to be so overcome by his love for a woman.
Shawn has been singing and performing before audiences since he was a teen. His teenage band performed before large club audiences as well as at state sponsored events in the 1970.s. He brings us back to those early days and wild costumes for some respite from the complicated world we live in today.
Shawn brings his many years of music background since childhood to his collaborations with distinguished persons in the American music industry, including world renowned arranger, Charles Calello. Having a proud reputation of creating 38 Top Ten hits and over a 100 songs on the BillBoard Charts, Charles Calello has this to say about Shawn Rae: “Charismatic, bright, innovative, courageous and certainly in a class by himself... having rich lustrous and euphonious qualities, incredible range and depth, giving the songs that Shawn chooses a sensual and romantic quality... Shawn’s ability to paint a vocal picture that imparts a story in the listener’s mind rather than just a song – distinctive, yet, reminiscent of other greats.”
In recent years, Shawn has released a Tribute Album which salutes some of the world’s greatest singers and musicians, in a collection of beautifully arranged and orchestrated eclectic songs.
This year he released the American debut of the first Christmas Album from the Muslim world in respect of Christianity, utilizing the services of Jews, Christians, Muslims and other faiths to complete the CD/Album. The album is named, A World Christmas, Love Knows No Borders. He is also releasing his new duet, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with singer, actress Deana Martin, daughter of the American iconic legend, Dean Martin. Deana’s last duet was with the internationally renowned American music great, Andy Williams.
Shawn Rae was raised until the age of 18 in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, inheriting from both of his parents a remarkable lineage of Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jewish, Tibetan, and Chinese ancestry. Shawn came to the United States to study as an exchange student. He continued his University education in the US and became a citizen as well. According to Shawn, “A unified humanity can collectively resolve problems… Divided, we only serve to create them.” Further, Shawn sees, “The challenge is individually and collectively to awaken our true potential for goodness and greatness, and to realize that positive change begins with us.”
In all of Shawn’s products and other endeavors, Shawn is committed to share his resources, and time and effort in promoting and supporting causes that are in the service of alleviating homelessness, hunger, disease and despair.
