New Silverado Memory Care Community to Open in Thousand Oaks
IRVINE, Calif. (PRWEB) August 21, 2018 -- Silverado is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the Planning Commission and City Council to build and operate a state-of-the-art memory care community in Thousand Oaks, California. The new community is expected to open its doors in early 2020 on a two-acre site just east of the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden.
The two-story community – located on Warwick Avenue –will serve 82 people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-impairing conditions. During development, the community will support more than 75 construction jobs and infuse millions of dollars into the economy as it is built to Silverado’s demanding specifications benefitting our memory-impaired residents. Once open, more than 80 new healthcare jobs will be created.
Silverado Thousand Oaks will feature design to meet the unique needs of the memory impaired, including skylights and sunrooms to draw in natural light and warmth, Eversound technology to aid resident hearing to increase engagement, and living areas to provide residents with inviting, comfortable spaces for social interaction. Skilled and compassionate associates practice Silverado’s industry-leading model for care, which includes our strength-based Nexus® brain health program. Loren Shook, President, Chairman, CEO and Founder shares, “While Silverado is a leading innovator in design with world-class programming, it’s our associates who make the real difference in giving our loved ones a truly exceptional quality of life.”
Thousand Oaks maintains a “slow growth” development policy, but after receiving unanimous support from the Planning Commission followed by a 5-0 vote from the City Council, Silverado is being welcomed with open arms.
“We are honored to have received unanimous support from the Thousand Oaks City Council for our memory care community,” adds Shook. “We look forward to sharing our life-changing Silverado experience to residents and families of Thousand Oaks.”
Respected local internal physician, Paul Block, MD, testified, “Silverado brings a great educational benefit to our local medical community as the expert in caring for seniors with dementia, evidenced by their industry-leading clinical outcomes and third-party validation from researchers like Johns Hopkins University.”
Silverado also received broad support from local referral agencies and senior advocacy groups like Senior Concerns and other faith-based organizations. Senior Pastor of Calvary Community Church and Chair, Board of Trustees at Los Robles Hospital, Shawn Thornton said: “An industry leading memory care provider like Silverado will be a great partner not only for those that live in the Conejo Valley who may struggle with cognitive impairment, but also for the hospital as we seek new innovative models of care to better serve our seniors.”
