New Horizon Security Volunteers Serve Holiday Lunch to SERVE Family Shelter Residents
Manassas, VA (PRWEB) December 31, 2014 -- New Horizon Security Services, Inc., a privately-owned security services firm headquartered in Manassas, VA, specializing in armed and unarmed security officers in the Mid-Atlantic region, provided a team of volunteers to serve food to families at the Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS) SERVE family shelter. The 92-bed emergency shelter for families in Western Prince William County had nearly 80 residents throughout the holiday weekend.
As a family-owned business, New Horizon Security shares SERVE’s philosophy that families are at the heart of our society, and that they must be strengthened and preserved.
Last week, New Horizon Security delivered 24 “Welcome Home Baskets,” prepared by New Horizon Security employees, to the shelter and all of them have been distributed to newly placed residents. “We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure these families have a comfortable and happy holiday. We have strong roots in Virginia and care deeply for the families we protect every day,” said J.J. Frazer, President and CEO. Frazer and New Horizon Security as a whole have demonstrated this commitment through their increased involvement with NVFS and SERVE.
Before lunch began at SERVE, Larry Williams, a training instructor at New Horizon Security, demonstrated the shared culture of service by helping a shelter resident jumpstart his car. The lunch included a well-received menu of sandwiches, boneless chicken, macaroni and cheese, fruit, and cookies, coordinated by Gilbert Garcia, Director of Business Operations. The residents showed their appreciation by thanking several volunteers throughout the afternoon. Serving others creates what New Horizon Security calls “Moments that Matter.” New Horizon Security emphasizes identifying these impactful moments both at and away from the workplace.
After lunch, New Horizon Security hosted a craft table for the children staying at the shelter over the holiday. The children handcrafted pieces of art to decorate their rooms or give as gifts, while a few of the boys spent their time making the fastest, farthest-flying paper airplanes.
“Participating as volunteers allowed my young daughters and I to help good folks who are less fortunate than we are,” said Randy Carlock, Director of Quality Control and Management Development at New Horizon Security. “The experience was very humbling and inspired a lot of respect for what SERVE and their residents go through every day.”
New Horizon Security is proud to be partnering with NVFS and the SERVE Shelter, and look forward to continuing the development of a strong cooperative relationship with NVFS in 2015.
