Definitely the right time for legal staff job seekers to search for the right job match- Harrison Barnes - CEO LawCrossing
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013
In midst of legal staff layoffs having become rampant all over the country, LawCrossing reports that there are over 9,700 legal staff jobs in the U.S. that need to be filled. The figures show that while cyclic swings in the economy had affected hiring adversely in big and small law firms alike, professionals skilled in legal services will always be in demand as long as conflicts exist in the society.
Active openings on the LawCrossing website prove that the prediction of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for paralegal and legal staff jobs through 2010-2020 is spot on. In its Occupational Outlook Handbook - 2012-13 Edition, the BLS notes that there will be an 18% rise in jobs for legal staff from 2010 to 2020. This is about as fast as the average for all occupations.
Surprisingly, while partners have been clamoring for more jobs, many news reports this year claim that lateral partner hiring was has been high. In fact this has resulted in the layoffs of much of the legal staff, especially legal secretaries. For instance, Duane Morris added a large number of lateral partners leading to the layoffs of 17 legal staff members across the country. Similarly, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, a 600-plus lawyer firm has trimmed down its administrative and support staff. Earlier this year, Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP and Patton Boggs LLP also cut down many staff and associate jobs. But, the new employment situation report of the BLS is showing promise once again for legal staff hiring with 2,700 jobs added in the legal sector through August. Industry experts say that now things are finally looking up for many out-of-work lawyers, paralegals, legal secretaries, associates and legal assistants. Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of LawCrossing says, “This is definitely the right time for legal staff job seekers to search for the right job match.”
