Utica College Celebrates National Cyber Security Awareness Month With Waived Fees for Its Cybersecurity Programs and Hosts a Complimentary Webinar
Utica, NY (PRWEB) October 07, 2013 -- In celebration of the tenth anniversary of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Utica College will waive the usual application fee for its bachelor's and master's Cybersecurity programs.
Utica will waive the application fee for applications to these two Cybersecurity programs, for the entire month of October, a savings of up to $50.
In addition, the college will host a complimentary webinar on Intelligence Driven Operations on Wednesday, October 9 at 7p.m. EST. Professor Vernon McCandlish, Cyber Security Analyst and Malware Reverse Engineer, will detail critical skills, such as:
• Identifying your organization’s assets and vulnerabilities
• Understanding your opponents and threat agents
• Prioritizing the threats to your own organization
• Knowing what needs protecting and mitigating the risks
Professor McCandlish earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in Economic Crime Management from Utica College. He had a 20-year career with the New York State Troopers, attaining the rank of Zone Sergeant, and worked on many technology-related cases. He is currently a Cyber Security Analyst and Malware Reverse Engineer for ITT Exelis Inc. Professor McCandlish holds three industry certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and GIAC’s Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM). With a love for technology that began at a very young age, ProfessorMcCandlish has also worked as a contract programmer on many projects, including several multiplayer on-line games.
