“ScienceWerkz”, an education app suite was featured on NewsWatch as part of its popular segment, AppWatch, that takes a look at the latest and coolest mobile applications and services on the iOS, Android, and Windows market. Andrew Tropeano, host of AppWatch, conducted the app suite review and explained to viewers how the apps are designed to stimulate a student’s interest in science by relating the material to them through highly interactive content and visuals.

Schools around the country are beginning to adopt technology in the classroom like tablets and touch computers. But unfortunately, they are still struggling to give kids access to high speed internet. So what’s the point of having a powerful tablet without internet speed when all the apps they use require a connection?

A new suite of apps called ScienceWerkz has recognized this issue and built apps that don’t require the internet to function. The apps are meant for classrooms and follow the common core standards and next generation science standards. There are over 32 science focused apps that cover grades five through ten and they all rely on the simple premise that engagement with material is more powerful than memorization. The apps are designed to stimulate a student’s interest in science by relating the material to them through highly interactive content and visuals.

ScienceWerkz apps are a combination of a school book, a classroom conversation, and hands-on activities. The apps are available for tablets and computers, with the computer version designed differently to fit the way we use them versus how we use a tablet.
