“TheGrint”, a mobile golf application, was featured on NewsWatch as part of its popular segment, AppWatch, that takes a look at the latest and coolest mobile applications and services on the iOS, Android, and Windows market. Andrew Tropeano, the host of AppWatch, conducted the app review and shared with viewers how it can automatically transcribe scores and provide users an official USGA handicap score for free.
Over 500 years ago, the first game of golf was played in Scotland. While that first game was different from the version played around the world today, keeping score was still important. Instead of sticking to pen and paper, consider a new app called TheGrint. TheGrint gives players an official USGA handicap for free. Players can upload scores manually, or they can stick to pen and paper and simply take a picture of the scorecard at the end of the round and TheGrint automatically transcribes it.
The app also provides players stats on their game and maps of every course in the country. On the map, players can see where they are are on the hole using GPS, and determine the distance to the fairway, the green, or anywhere else on the course. There’s a social element as well. Players can link up with anyone in their group, or even a group ahead or behind them and make a foursome an eight-some. Players can talk trash and see scores, all in realtime.
To give TheGrint a try, head to the iTunes or Android store and search “The Grint” or visit http://thegrint.com/.
