NewsWatch Recently Featured “Zones of Regulation,” an Educational Mobile App on National Television

A new and interesting educational curriculum called The Zones of Regulation isn’t teaching History or Math, but self-regulation among students. There are four zones. The red zone is for out of control emotions like anger; the yellow zone is for controllable emotions like frustrations; the green zone is for calm emotions like happiness; and the blue zone is for lowly feelings like sadness.
A small indie studio in California teamed up with an experienced occupational therapist to create The Zones of Regulation app. The app helps kids identify when they’re in a zone, how they got there and how to manage their emotions to move between zones. It’s educational, but also fun for kids – so they won’t get bored.
To play the game, the user chooses a character and names them, then plays through tutorials and exercises for each zone, and a few games for entertainment. The general premise of The Zones of Regulation is to help fast forward a child’s emotional intelligence.
The game is available for nearly any device and costs $4.99 and $9.99, dependent on the version.
