NightDragon Security, a dedicated cybersecurity investment firm, today announced an expansion of its team by adding Admiral Mike Rogers, Nadav Zafrir, and General Sir Chris Deverell as Venture Partners.
Mike is the former director of the National Security Agency (NSA), the former chief of the Central Security Service, and the former commander of the U.S. Cyber Command. One of the most knowledgeable intelligence professionals and cybersecurity experts, Mike assumed those posts in April of 2014 and retired in June of 2018, marking 37 years of service. He served under both Presidents Trump and Obama and oversaw the NSA and Cyber Command responses to both the Snowden leaks and Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. He also put the NSA through its largest reorganization in 20 years and led the creation and operationalization of the nation's cyber mission force, culminating in the elevation of Cyber Command to the senior-most command level in the Department of Defense.
Nadav is the co-founder and CEO of Team8, a venture platform solving problems of magnitude by creating and accelerating category-leading companies. Team8 combines its in-depth understanding of the attacker perspective, data science and AI to enable businesses to reap the benefits of digital transformation in an agile and secure manner. Team8 is backed by some of the world’s most renowned businesses including Cisco, Microsoft, AT&T, Walmart, Airbus, Softbank, Accenture, Qualcomm, Moody’s, Munich-Re, Dimension Data, Nokia and Scotiabank. Previously, Nadav was the Commander of the IDF's Technology & Intelligence Unit 8200 (Israel's NSA).
Chris is the former Commander of the UK’s Joint Forces Command, which included Special Forces, Defence Intelligence, Cyber, ISR and Communications from Space, Information Systems and Services, Operational Command of UK operations overseas, Education, Medical Services, and the UK’s permanent bases overseas. He was also appointed Knight Commander of the Order of Bath in 2015, and Aide de Camp General to Her Majesty The Queen in 2016. Chris has also held a variety of leadership roles as a British Army officer, including Brigadier and Director of Equipment Capability for Ground Manoeuvre, Strategy Director, Lieutenant General, and Chief of Materiel (Land). Chris’ experience makes him a foremost expert on the intersection between cyber and physical threats facing governments and commercial organizations.
“The attack landscape is rapidly evolving on a global scale, which continues to create disruption opportunities in the cybersecurity market,” said Dave DeWalt, Managing Director at NightDragon Security. “With the combination of this experience and talent, not only have we built upon our ability to identify compelling cybersecurity investment opportunities, but we also expanded our ability to provide NightDragon portfolio companies the unique strategic insights and operating leverage to help them reach significant value creation milestones.
