MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Excelera® Specialty Pharmacy Network, a national network of health systems and large academic medical center specialty pharmacies, is proud to announce that nine Excelera member pharmacists have earned or recertified the exclusive Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) credential from the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board (SPCB). The newly CSP-certified pharmacists in the Excelera Network are:
- Vera Stefan, PharmD, CSP — CHI Health
- Stacy Haider, PharmD, CSP — Fairview Pharmacy Services
- Diem Nguyen, PharmD, CSP — Fairview Pharmacy Services
- John Keller, PharmD, CSP — Northwestern Medicine
- Mary Beth Rottman, PharmD, CSP — Northwestern Medicine
- Abeer Carpenter, PharmD, CSP — Pharmacy Advantage
- Katherine Lewnau, PharmD, CSP — Pharmacy Advantage
- Jonathon Mansour, PharmD, CSP — Pharmacy Advantage
- Leonard Petrik, PharmD, CSP – Regional Home+ Specialty Pharmacy
Unlike licensure, which is state-specific and obligatory, the SPCB's certification process is a voluntary program providing certification at a national level. The CSP assessment program allows pharmacy professionals to verify their aptitude in specialty pharmacy generally, as well as in their specialized area. Additionally, the CSP credential is a key indicator to employers, manufacturers, patients, payers, other healthcare providers and the public at large that a professional is qualified in a variety of practice settings. The Excelera Network accounts for over 50 of the 420 pharmacists currently designated as CSP.
"We are very proud of our member pharmacists who have achieved this noteworthy accreditation," said Lorrie Carr, CEO of ExceleraRx Corp. "The accomplishments of these professionals are a testament to Excelera's commitment to building a collaborative network of the most qualified specialty pharmacists in the industry. We value continuous performance improvement in this dynamic industry, and applaud efforts which align with our mission to showcase the quality of care delivered by high-performing specialty pharmacies."
"The CSP accreditation is the nation's premier certification for pharmacists who wish to demonstrate their expertise in specialty pharmacy," said Gaurang J. Gandhi, PharmD, MHA, CSP, SPCB president. "Each year, only a handful of pharmacists achieve this exclusive designation, providing pharmacists and the organizations they work for networks with increased visibility and recognition as leaders in their respective fields."
