Millikin University's Institute for Science and Entrepreneurship hosted chemists from 300 Below, Inc. and Harcros Chemicals, Inc., which led to experiments on one of the toughest non-toxic cleaning solutions on the market. Pristine Cleaning Solution, after experimentation and tweaks to the original cleaning formula, is now stronger and more environmentally friendly as a result of the collaboration.

Working with this A-team morphs challenging chemistry into a learning experience that is truly fun for all of us.

Stronger industrial cleaning requirements have often meant toxic waste footprints with costly health and safety precautions, but academia and industry leaders converged in mid-July to eliminate these environmental challenges while improving the efficacy of Pristine, a versatile non-toxic cleaning solution. Used by manufacturers, service providers, and firearms enthusiasts, Pristine is safe for use in the home around pets and children while being strong enough to remove the toughest carbon-based deposits from any metal surface without etching or veiling.

Millikin University hosted leaders and chemists from 300 Below, Inc. and its supplier, Harcros Chemicals, through their collaboration with Millikin's Science and Entrepreneurship Program. Chemists Dave Perring (300 Below) and Scott Walters (Harcros) worked side-by-side in a Millikin laboratory to test new variations of Pristine's non-toxic water-based formulation for carbon removal.

As part of ongoing experimentation, new surfactants were evaluated against current measures to test foaming, cleaning power, and storage capabilities required for extended shelf life while engendering maximum efficiency to clean aggressively without unintended side effects. Maintaining a neutral pH was another priority in order to facilitate non-etching properties. The improvements continue to maintain compliance with stringent California Regulations, yielding a technically superior non-toxic cleaning solution with no VOCs.

"Working with Chris Akers and Scott Walters at Harcros continues to be one of our favorite business development activities. There is so much knowledge shared when we get together to collaborate on business strategy and technical improvements to our product lines. Plus, when you get Millikin's Dr. David Horn involved, it takes a typical work week experience to new heights. Working with this A-team morphs challenging chemistry into a learning experience that is truly fun for all of us," recalls Prescott Paulin, International Research Consultant for 300 Below.

Pristine Cleaning Solution eliminates oil, grease, carbon-based deposits, polishing compounds, rouges, rosin core flux lines, and other manufacturing particulate from metal surfaces, plastics and composites. Pristine rinses completely free, leaving no residue, no etching and no worries behind. Pristine is a non-toxic cleaning solution that is also non-caustic and non-flammable compared to other offerings in the market. When Pristine Cleaning Solution launched on Amazon as part of 300 Below's Tactical Triad gun cleaning kit, the gun cleaning kit ranked among the Top 5 gun cleaning kits sold on Amazon with Pristine as the driving force behind numerous positive four and five star user reviews.
