After thirty years, veteran of civil aviation and author Norman Yee has finally published his memoir, “Catching the Wind: A Search for God” (published by Xlibris AU). In it, readers will encounter an eventful transition as Yee rises from the shadow of poverty and eventually caught the wind of success.
Whisking the readers back to the 1940s, this inspiring and somewhat humorous memoir reveals humble beginnings to entering a complex aviation field to gradually replacing the expatriates in Fiji. Eventually, Yee’s hard work pays off as he becomes the head of the civil aviation regulatory body during a lifetime of pioneering activities and unimaginable aviation development in Fiji and abroad. Yee’s story is a rare exposé into the personal lives of a Chinese immigrant family living in Fiji, of childhood escapades of love and marriage. This account also highlights his incredible spiritual experiences where in mid-career God intervened dramatically and changed his whole outlook on life.
“Catching the Wind: A Search for God” is an inspiring story of ‘a poor boy made good,’ using his parent’s work ethics of hard work and self–help and the application of Christian principles towards success. It is a must read for aviation buffs, sociologists, the religious and those seeking to ‘catch the winds’ of success in their lives.

About the Author
Norman Yee is a first generation Chinese in Fiji. From an early age, his ready acceptance of new challenges and his application of self-help concepts set him on the road to worldly success. Unfulfilled until his encounter with God, he then became involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the FGBMFI and later the Pentecostal Church. After that encounter, his love for his wife, Janney and family greatly changed. They have seven adult children and four grandchildren. At 73, he is enjoying his hard–earned retirement, in painting landscapes, listening to music, reading, cooking and lately in lifestyle and health issues.
