As the economy continues to recover and interest is renewed in home renovation, especially spa style bathrooms and in-home fitness centers, the North American Sauna Society (NASS) has observed an increase in interest not only in designing and installing saunas but also in understanding the history, culture and health benefits of sauna. Through working with manufacturers across North America, including Finnleo, the North American Sauna Society provides a strong knowledge base of Finnish traditions and European designs and combines it with the latest sauna trends available today.
In 2014, the NASS has increased its nationwide outreach program through partnership with sauna specialty retailers in local communities. Through their partnership with NASS, the dealers learn about all aspects of the authentic sauna experience, which can be far different than what most Americans experience at health clubs or hotels. From sauna design tips to help select the best location for a sauna to how to enjoy a sauna to the fullest extent, the NASS provides independent recommendations based on Finnish tradition and culture.
In addition to educating dealers, the NASS seeks to help sauna enthusiasts understand the health, wellness, and social benefits associated with sauna. Through education, the NASS hopes to change the perception of sauna from the “after-workout-at-the-club amenity” to an integral part of the enthusiasts lifestyle.
