Novant Health Announces Online Innovation Challenge
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 -- Novant Health today launched Bright Ideas in Women’s Wellness, an online crowdsourcing platform for innovative ideas, as a new approach to solving the toughest healthcare issues facing women and their families.
The challenge is being conducting across the Novant Health system in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The platform aims to unite and energize communities to share ideas and develop solutions to Novant Health challenge questions. Communities can collaborate to move the most innovative ideas forward and eventually put them into action. For this challenge, the topic question is:
What can families do to support each other, manage their weight together and lead healthy lives?
“The goal at the end of the four week challenge is a collection of ready-to-pilot ideas, that are thoroughly vetted by the community and ready to put into action,” said Matthew Gymer, corporate director of innovation of Novant Health. “Our platform aims to unite healthcare providers, policy makers, educators, businesses, service organizations and members of our community to solve large-scale community health problems.”
Community members can interact with the site in multiple ways: post an idea, comment on an idea, upvote or downvote an idea. Community experts, representing all economic sectors of the community, also participate by completing reviews to help graduate the most popular ideas to the top.
“More Americans are struggling with their weight – which comes with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes,” said Gymer. “At Novant Health, we believe that our communities, with this kind of collaboration, can come together to produce ideas that could reverse this trend and make an impact on our future health.”
This innovation challenge represents one of the many ways Novant Health serves as an active participant in local communities. After a successful pilot program in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this new challenge becomes the second crowdsourcing opportunity initiated by Novant Health for community members to solve some of the most challenging healthcare issues we face today.
The current challenge will be active from Sept. 13 – Oct. 11. To access the website, simply visit NovantHealth.org/ideas.
