DrugRisk Alerts of Increased NuvaRing Lawsuits Alleging Blood Clots
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- The birth control safety advocates at DrugRisk.com are announcing updated news for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. Recent court records show the number of lawsuits filed by patients using device alleging blood clot injuries has increased over 11% since May*.
DrugRisk was created to improve the safety and awareness of patients using popular prescription drugs by providing the latest safety alerts, recalls, studies and legal news. Visitors can find out if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
Health experts have linked contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives could relate to a 2.5 to 3-fold increased risk of blood clots**.
Due to the number of patients who have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, cases have been consolidated in a special federal court in Missouri. The formal case is known as In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.
Now, the resource center has learned that the latest court records show the number of claims has increased from 1,163 on May 15th,to 1,296 on July 10, an increase of over 11%*. The first trial for these lawsuits has been scheduled to start in October***.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible.
Due to the specialized nature of federal MDL drug injury cases, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
