DrugRisk Alert: Court Records Show NuvaRing Lawsuits Growing
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 02, 2013 -- The birth control safety advocates at DrugRisk.com are announcing updated information for women using the contraceptive NuvaRing. Court records for November show the number of lawsuits alleging the device caused clotting injuries has risen*.
DrugRisk is a free resource for those taking popular prescription drugs. By sharing the latest product recalls, safety alerts, research and litigation news, patients can avoid dangerous drugs, see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
The resource center contains warnings from health experts linking contraceptives like NuvaRing to higher risks of blood clots than traditional birth control pills. Last year, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study finding vaginal ring contraceptives may result in a 2.5 to 3-fold increased risk of blood clots**.
Due to the number of women who have filed a NuvaRing lawsuit alleging blood clots, cases have been consolidated in a special federal multidistrict litigation court. The formal case is In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, No. 08-md-1964, JPML, Eastern District Missouri.
Now, DrugRisk has learned the latest court records from November show the number of cases filed has grown 4% from 1,502 on October 17th to 1,563 as of November 18*. U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel has scheduled the first trial for April 7, 2014***.
Anyone who suffered a blood clot, stroke, DVT or pulmonary embolism after using NuvaRing is urged to contact the DrugRisk or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible. However, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled NuvaRing lawsuits.
