Oaksterdam University to Host Four-Day Educational Marijuana Horticultural Seminar Aug 23-26; Training Fills Information Gap for Medical Marijuana Caregivers and Patients
Atlantic City, New Jersey (PRWEB) August 20, 2014 -- New Jersey’s Medical Marijuana Program has been slow in meeting the needs of an estimated tens of thousands of patients in the state. However, with the introduction of the new Bill A3525—a bill that would expand the list of qualifying conditions and allow eligible patients to grow their own cannabis—earlier this summer by State Assemblywoman Linda Stender, the need to provide proper horticultural training for medicinal quality marijuana is growing.
To help fill the information gap for medical marijuana caregivers as well as patients, Oaksterdam University (OU) is hosting an Atlantic City four-day seminar that will cover everything about cannabis production from seed to harvest, important legal and civil rights issues, and insights into the current trends of the U.S. cannabis movement. The seminar will be held at Bally’s Atlantic City, 1900 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, beginning Saturday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 26. The cost for seminar is $995 and offers certification upon completion.
“There is enormous change required within the business of marijuana horticulture. People want information from dependable sources with comprehensive training in the cannabis industry such as ours,” said Dale Sky Jones, Executive Chancellor of OU. “This Atlantic City seminar is a great opportunity to learn more about various aspects of cannabis and medicinal marijuana.”
COO John Nicolazzo from The Medical Cannabis Network, which owns and operates the website MarijuanaDoctors.com, will present at the seminar. “I’ll be touching on opportunities that most patients and caregivers don’t realize exist,” said Nicolazzo. “For instance, patients can now find medicinal marijuana using a mobile app called PotLocator. I’ll cover everything from accounting to security, marketing, advertising, insurance, regulatory applications, how technology applies and other topics that typically go unmentioned in the industry.”
Misinformation is rampant about the science of Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabis policy reform depends on science over politics. Both will be addressed, with a special class on science. Local experts Adam Scavone, a New York attorney and co-founder of the New York Cannabis Alliance, and Evan Nison, Executive Director of NJ NORML, will explain the political atmosphere and how to traverse the legal landscape as laws shift rapidly concerning medicinal marijuana.
