Fail: Study Reveals Lack of Confidence in Digital Marketing - O’Connor Marketing Investigates

Direct marketing firm O’Connor Marketing looks into a recent study that has revealed concerns surrounding the digital marketing industry.

With digital marketing spending expected to reach a record $137.53 billion by the end of 2014 – a number that is a 15% increase on 2013, and a quarter of all paid media spending worldwide – a recent survey of marketers indicates that the only thing growing faster than digital marketing investment is the marketer’s uncertainty about what they’re getting for their money.

O’Connor Marketing looked into the recent study, conducted by Domus Inc. (titled 'Study Reveals Widespread Digital Dysfunction Among Marketers' and published on June 10, 2014 by MarketWired) and was shocked to find that 64% of marketers said that their companies suffer from “digital dysfunction.” Specific areas of concern highlighted in the study included:

  • 91% of marketers surveyed believe their companies need better methods to measure the business impact of digital marketing and social media.
  • 84% of marketers surveyed said their companies need to achieve more with their digital marketing, including increasing a return on investment from social media.
