OEConnection LLC (OEC), a leading technology employer in Northeast Ohio, sponsored the 16th annual High School Programming Contest on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Once again, a record number of participating high school teams and students came from across Northeast Ohio, and as far as Columbus, to compete in solving the most computer programming problems in the shortest amount of time. Thirty-three teams from 24 schools participated in this year’s competition.
This year’s winning team was from University School. Baldwin Wallace students from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) chapter managed the event, including creating the problems and solutions, updating the scoreboard, managing the judging system and awarding the prize to the winning team.
“Every year, we get the privilege of hosting an amazing group of high school students who represent the future of the IT and technology field,” Jodi Tims, competition co-organizer and professor of computer science at Baldwin Wallace University, said. “We appreciate having OEC as a partner for this event, as it shows our organizations’ shared commitment to supporting and growing the tech community in Northeast Ohio.”
“OEC has been a part of this outstanding event since 2007,” said Kathy Golden, Chief Technology Officer at OEC. “It provides a unique opportunity for students to experience how their critical thinking and analytical skills can serve them in a future role within Technology. We hope that the students participating in this event discover that a career as a software developer can be very rewarding.”
