Flavor Your Life Shares Desserts Created with Tuscan Olive Oil and Other Varieties of Olive Oil
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2013 -- Flavor Your Life, a European Union funded campaign dedicated to educating consumers about news pertaining to olive oil, such as Tuscan olive oil, shares delicious dessert recipes that contain olive oil as an ingredient.
Olive oil is a versatile ingredient that is included in many dishes. It can be included in delicious appetizers, entrées, and desserts.
These 2 recipes shared by Flavor Your Life include olive oil in the ingredients:
• Ice cream with extra virgin olive oil- Start by mixing 1 ½ cups of heated milk with 1 ½ cups of sugar and 2 tbsp. of salt flakes. Add 3 cups of milk to the already mixed ingredients. Add 1 ½ cups of extra virgin olive oil after allowing the mixture to cool. After mixing with a blender, add the mixture to an ice cream machine. Try using this as a palate cleanser instead of a traditional sorbet.
• Sweet cake made with olive oil- Mix 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil and citrus yogurt with 3 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, baking powder and a lemon rind. After the ingredients are all mixed, bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. If you require an icing, top with a sugar icing.
Carol Firenze, author of The Passionate Olive, speaks about the different types of olive oils and how you can incorporate them into desserts. “Olive oil comes in mild, medium or robust intensities to suit every taste and food pairing,” she says. “Use a mild intensity olive oil for dishes that require a subtle flavor, like fish, pesto, eggs or when baking.”
