Tuscan Olive Oil Producer Bellucci Premium Responds to an Article that Suggests Consuming Olive Oil in Order to Reduce Breast Cancer Risk
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Tuscan olive oil producer Bellucci Premium responds to an article discussing how the hydroxytyrosol found in olive oil can help reduce the risk of breast cancer.
In an article published by News Medical on January 23rd titled “Hydroxytyrosol in olive oil may help reduce risk of breast cancer,” the component hydroxytyrosol found in olive oil and its link in reducing the risk of breast cancer is discussed. In a study conducted by the Houston Methodist Cancer Center, women who have an increased risk of breast cancer are being observed. Initially, researchers found that increased breast density resulted in an increased risk of breast cancer. They also noted that olive oil has been shown to reduce the risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Researchers decided to select the compound hydroxytyrosol found in olive oil and give it to their subjects in hopes that it would result in decreased breast density.
Houston Methodist has enrolled 100 patients: 50 premenopausal and 50 postmenopausal. According to the article, “each patient will take one 25 mg hydroxytyrosol capsule for 12 months and undergo checkups every three months. There is no placebo control.” In addition to observing hydroxytyrosol’s effect on breast density, they will also be observing any possible side effects.
Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for organic olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, says, “Olive oil has been proven to decrease inflammation in the body and help to reduce the risk of various types of cancers. It is rich with a plethora of antioxidants and healthy fatty acids. Although a capsule containing hydroxytyrosol can help, it is simpler to add one to two tablespoons of olive oil into a daily diet and enjoy the vast range of benefits it has to offer.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
