Bellucci Premium comments on an article that reports oil usage in German households, and the types of oils that are used in abundance.
According to an article published on October 8th by The Olive Oil Times titled “Organic Olive Oil Leads Category in Germany,” recently there has been an increase in the demand for information about olive oil price, origins and quality from German consumers.
The article shared details of a report from Spain’s Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), which investigated Germany’s use of oils. The report found that while butter and margarine were still popular, oils such as olive, canola and sunflower are most popularly used. In terms of organic oils, organic olive oil had the highest sales. “ICEX says the growing demand for organic produce is one of most striking tendencies in the German food market,” according to the article.
In addition, the ICEX found that 82.57 percent of imported olive oil is extra virgin olive oil. German consumers prefer to purchase olive oil in glass bottles instead of plastic ones. It was also noted that “Italy provides the vast majority of Germany’s olive oil – nearly 72 percent of imports – and Spain ranks next with just over 14 percent, then Greece with almost nine percent.”
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, believes that German consumers are picking the top quality brands when it comes to olive oil. “Not only are German consumers demanding more information about the olive oil they are purchasing, but they are also consuming top quality olive oil. Both extra virgin and organic extra virgin olive oils are of the highest quality. It is always good to see that consumers are educating themselves and purchasing olive oil based on its quality.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
