Italian Olive Oil Producer Bellucci Premium Discusses Improved Shipping Methods for Glass Bottles
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- Bellucci Premium responds to an article about UPS’s introduction of a new packaging design that makes the shipping of olive oil safer.
According to an article published on The Olive Oil Times on October 15th titled “Safe Journey For a Few Bottles of Olive Oil,” shipping olive oil can be a delicate process. Since olive oil needs to be protected from many factors, such as heat and light, the packaging needs to cover these parameters while also shielding the glass bottle that houses the oil.
Last week UPS introduced a new shipping method that would make shipping bottles of extra virgin olive oil much safer and convenient, says the article. It was launched in Milan and promises a carefree way to ship olive oil products around the world.
The new packaging was developed specifically for UPS by Grifal. The material used is called Mondaplen. It is great for shipping olive oil due to its ability to insulate. “The packaging — which measures 400 by 300 by 200 mm, and can contain up to two, one-liter (or three, half-liter) bottles — has an outer shell made of double corrugated cardboard while its walls are covered with Mondaplen,” says the article. The packaging also features two more Monaplen bags that can be used to provide more protection.
The packing is also environmentally friendly – it is 100% recyclable, protects against extreme heat or cold, and is made up of 50% recycled material.
“Shipping olive oil is a tricky process,” says Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Italian olive oil producer Bellucci Premium. “Since olive oil can oxidize when it is exposed to light and heat, shielding olive oil from these elements during shipping is paramount,” she says. “It’s exciting to see innovative shipping ideas emerge. At Bellucci Premium, we hope that shipping methods for olive oil continue to progress.”
Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
