Omnia Education Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Its Highly Successful Women’s Health Annual Visit CME Series
Fort Washington, PA (PRWEB) May 19, 2014 -- Omnia Education, the leading provider of women’s health continuing medical education (CME), launches the tenth year of its most successful educational program, the Women’s Health Annual Visit (WHAV). The live program hosts over 5,000 learners each year in cities throughout the United States, and enduring programs reach more than 30,000 annually through on air, mobile, online, and print-based education. WHAV features expert medical faculty who present the latest research and updates on women’s health.
WHAV launched in 2004 as a way to stay ahead of the changing landscape in women's health. It was at that time that medical guidelines changed relative to the recommended frequency of pap testing creating confusion and inconsistencies in practice among healthcare professionals. Concerned that some patients may skip an annual visit because of the reduced frequency, Omnia Education designed a curriculum that focused on myriad diseases and conditions that are an integral part of the annual visit -- such as cardiovascular disease, mental health, bone health, metabolic disorders, and many others. This continuum of care for the female patient became the focal point of WHAV, offering an expanded curriculum and emphasizing the importance of educating patients on the role of the annual visit.
“Due to the expanding role of the women’s healthcare provider, it is essential that clinicians stay up to date in this fast-paced and ever-changing healthcare environment,” said Andrea J. Singer, MD, Director of Women’s Primary Care at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and program director for WHAV. “This includes being comfortable with current standards and recommendations regarding women’s ‘traditional’ health needs as well as areas such as cardiovascular health, weight management, sexual health, osteoporosis, and cancer risk and screening to name a few. The presentations at WHAV meetings provide excellent and comprehensive education to meet these needs.”
The CME series typically hosts ten meetings each year in major metropolitan markets across the United States, and faculty and course directors continually update the topics. “We have focused on cutting edge education for a decade, and these Omnia Education programs help clinicians improve the care of patients and their clinical outcomes,” said Thomas C. Wright, MD, Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University, and program director of WHAV.
