The results revealed that more people search for online banking products and services than for online shopping services or products.

Perfect Search Labs, a team of Perfect Search Media researchers, conducted the study in July 2013 when researchers found that there are over 600,000 different keywords or search queries that include the word “online” typed into Google every month.
The study was based on the premise that a search query including the keyword ‘online’ indicates that the person searching is looking for an online service or product. A representative sample of 600 of the most-searched keywords was broken down into 5 main categories: entertainment, tools, education, shopping and banks.
Perfect Search found that there are more searches performed for online entertainment products/services than any other category. There is also more variation in the search queries for online entertainment products and services than other category. The results also revealed that more people search for online banking products and services than for shopping.
The findings also suggest that while big brand names are dominating the online real estate of the banking category, there is more variety in the search queries in the entertainment category.
News was found to be the least-searched online product or service.
Category totals are based on the number of different search queries or keywords per category and the volume of searches per keyword in each category (how many people searched for each unique keyword).
