Students Around the World Head Back to School—Without Leaving Home
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- The global classroom is a reality for students heading back to school today at International Connections Academy (iNaCA), a fully accredited online private school serving students worldwide. iNaCA is expected to serve more than 500 full-time and 900 part-time students in grades K through 12 in the United States and abroad during the 2013-2014 school year.
“Our online private school appeals to students in many geographic areas—including students whose families live, work, or travel overseas—seeking a personalized, technology-enhanced, education that is more self-paced, rigorous and flexible,” said Dr. Steven Guttentag, Head of School at International Connections Academy.
The Academy launched in spring of 2009 to make a quality private school experience accessible to more students nationally and, since 2012, globally. Leveraging Connections Academy expertise and investments in curriculum and technology, iNaCA offers an affordable, private virtual school option to students seeking an alternative to the traditional classroom experience.
Even in states where a virtual public school is an option, families are choosing to enroll their children in iNaCA for the virtual private school’s quality and flexibility—students can choose a complete virtual school education as full-time students or take individual courses as part-time students. iNaCA students also have access to its College Acceleration programs that allow students to earn a high school diploma and an American Public University associate degree in four years or earn college credits toward a bachelor's degree through University of Maryland University College.
Recent iNaCA graduate and South Carolina native Hayley Carter needed a flexible education that could travel with her to tennis tournaments yet still provide a strong academic experience.
“The flexibility of International Connections Academy gave me the opportunity to train, compete, and still receive a great education regardless of my time commitments to tennis,” said Hayley, who has won 14 South Carolina state titles and has been named the USTA Southern champion nine times. She now attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a tennis scholarship.
Across the globe in Muenster, Germany, 9th grade student Mary Bean is earning a high quality American education while her father serves in the military abroad. When her family moved from the United States to Germany, they chose to enroll Mary at iNaCA for its highly involved teachers and accreditation.
This year, the online private school has expanded its college-prep high school curriculum to include a series of Career Technical Education (CTE) courses. Introduction to Law, Medical Terminology, and Research Methods are among the many courses available. Award-winning music courses from Juilliard eLearning are also available to students in grades K-12.
iNaCA students learn from home, or anywhere there is an Internet connection, and work with teachers who are licensed and specially trained in online instruction. The school requires a Learning Coach, typically a parent, to monitor progress in the home, oversee daily schedules, and help motivate students. Students in grades K through 12 can enroll full-time or part-time—choosing to take one class or a full course load—depending on their scheduling needs.
Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is still open to students in grades K through 12 across the globe. For more information, view an online information session, visit the International Connections Academy website (http://www.internationalconnectionsacademy.com), or call (888) 440-2899.
