PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- OpConnect has begun shipping an Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) enabled SAE J1772 (TM) 19 kW Level 2 charging station, a perfect solution for school buses and other medium duty fleet trucks. The station combines the best in class back-end from OpConnect, combined with proven charging hardware to provide the highest power networked Level 2 charger available.
The station, the highest power rated L2 EV charging station available, gives fleet operators a perfect low-cost solution to keep their fleet on the road. The OCPP connection provides the fleet operator additional comfort, knowing he/she can manage and track the charging load to minimize energy costs.
"This is a great solution for many fleets," according to Dexter Turner, OpConnect CEO. "High power AC charging allows fleets to avoid the high cost of DC charging while still providing short enough charge times to manage their charging, while minimizing energy costs."
OpConnect's solution allows fleet operators to manage their load through OpConnect's dashboard, API ports, or direct communication with the stations through the OCPP enabled interface.
"It's an exciting time for fleets as more and more plug-in fleet vehicles are coming to market, the technology is reaching cost parity with conventionally fueled vehicles and the reduced maintenance and fuel costs are making EVs a more attractive solution for fleet operators," added Turner.
OpConnect's network technology is designed to accommodate multifamily, workplace, public and fleet applications. The network is fully OCPP enabled, allowing its customers to avoid vendor lock and have a choice of OCPP hardware available on the market today.
