Alcohol & Drug Rehab Ottawa Launches Program Aimed at Reducing Adolescent Marijuana Addiction
Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) January 12, 2014 -- An Ottawa alcohol and drug rehab center is launching a new program that addresses adolescent marijuana addiction problems through Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.
According to statistics from the Canadian Alcohol and Drug Use Monitoring Survey, "In 2011, the prevalence of past-year cannabis use by youth was 21.6 percent, three times higher than that of adults (6.7 percent). Despite the decrease in prevalence of past-year cannabis use among both males and females compared to 2004, prevalence among males remained twice as high as that of females (12.2 percent vs. 6.2 percent)."
The Ottawa program helps adolescents deal with why they abuse marijuana, how too much marijuana can harm their lives, and offers specific directions toward living a clean and sober life instead of continual, chronic marijuana use.
Drug rehabilitation allows adolescents to detox, cleansing their bodies of the cannabis upsetting his or her lifestyle.
That's followed by counseling and therapy. More times than not, there are real-life issues that a person has used drugs to hide, repress or deny within themselves.
Some issues might include physical, emotional, spiritual or mental abuse. Drug rehab allows clients time to discern and figure out what is their truth around these situations. Counselors and therapists with many years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and addiction can help make the transition from addiction to recovery easier. These drug rehab staff members can rely on their personal and professional experiences with addiction to offer compassion and support to recovering individuals working to overcome their addictions.
Drug Addiction Treatment Centers stand upon the foundation of the Twelve Spiritual Principles of recovery, which include Honesty, Hope, Faith, Courage, Integrity, Willingness, Humility, Love for Others (Brotherly and Sisterly), Justice, Perseverance, Spirituality and Service. These centers exist to support and guide recovering individuals as they learn to seek a different path that does not involve drugs.
