Outpatient direct billing for SMEs has been handled through William Russell's third party administrator, Neuron, offering the service to clients in countries such as India, Pakistan, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. However, international insurers are now discovering a demand in Dubai for outpatient direct billing on an individual basis, a service that has become increasingly prevalent in regionalised plans from locally-focused insurers with generally less comprehensive plans.
After several discussions between Pacific Prime and William Russell regarding methods to increase the customer experience in Dubai, it only made sense to expand the service to individual clients, accommodating for the influx of expats in the region.
Although previously in the UAE, international insurers opted for the 'pay and claim' process in their worldwide expat coverage plans, a somewhat slow and frustrating procedure for individual clients, insurers were still able to rely on other strengths to attract clientele, such as the lack of restrictions on which hospital a client could go to for treatment. The comprehensive plans offered by international insurers generally also offer superior global coverage levels, a priority for frequent travelers.
However, a rapidly increasing expat population in the UAE has brought along with it an increasing demand for a variety of services that not only cater to businesses, but to individuals and families as well. This increase of demand in recent years for personal insurance in Dubai has led to a fierce competition between the service levels of the international insurance companies.
