According to a recent survey conducted by Shop.org and Forrester Research, 80% of participants said they will spend more on paid search advertising. The survey results say that while natural search optimization was the top marketing strategy in 2011, some retailers find it easier to invest in paid search advertising to help better control and direct inbound traffic to web sites. When asked about the effectiveness of paid search advertising in 2012 versus 2011, 68% said they were able to drive more revenue from paid search results. (Source: Ibid.)

“What is important to remember is that a Google PPC campaign will not take away from organic traffic. In fact, the two strategies can work hand in hand in helping smaller businesses connect with a greater audience,” she adds. “Using a PPC advertising campaign can be very beneficial to businesses operating on smaller budgets, because they only pay when users click on an ad. They can decide when and where the ads are displayed, and brands can also modify or adjust PPC ads that are ineffective.”

It can be beneficial to use a number of different strategies,” Iaboni concludes.
