$2,500 in Scholarships for College-Bound Chicagoland Awarded by Palatine Family Law Attorney
Palatine, IL (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- Earlier this month, the Inaugural Scholarships for College-Bound Chicagoland Powered by the Law Office of Nicholas W. Richardson, P.C., were awarded to four area students looking to continue their education after high school graduation.
“I was floored to receive almost 40 submissions representing almost 20 high schools throughout Cook, DuPage, Lake and McHenry counties,” says Attorney Nicholas W. Richardson, who has actively given back to his community since opening his own office in 2009. “All of the essay writers deserve recognition, and everyone received a copy of College PaperBuddy, which provides practical tips to help students earn better grades in a quick, friendly format, as a token of my appreciation for their hard work.”
The winners for the Inaugural Scholarships for College-Bound Chicagoland Powered by the Law Office of Nicholas W. Richardson, P.C., include:
•Madeline Schulze, Maine South High School, Grand-Prize Scholarship, worth $1,300.
•Andrew Beck, Rolling Meadows High School, First Runner-Up Scholarship, worth $700.
•Kate Didier, Prairie Ridge High School, Honorable Mention Scholarship, worth $250.
•Nicole Hassman Maine South High School, Honorable Mention Scholarship, worth $250.
In only 500 words, entrants addressed how the Bill of Rights affects their daily lives. Filled with examples from school and their personal lives, the essays from these high school seniors illustrated a generation ready for its next adventure.
In her Grand-Prize-Winning essay, Schulze writes, “It may initially sound ridiculous that a set of rights adopted over 200 years ago, in 1791, could affect my daily life on such a routine basis … the first Congress under the new Constitution managed to ink out principles that still hold true in the America of 2014. Men who thought white curly wigs and tights were a good wardrobe choice inked out my ability to tweet freely. So when I sit on the couch with a bowl of microwave popcorn and watch the news, I have the Bill of Rights to thank for it.”
Attorney Richardson is proud to support the educational efforts of these four students and their families. Focused on Family Law in Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs, Attorney Richardson appreciates all the help he received to launch and publicize this program.

Next year’s 2nd Annual Scholarships for College-Bound Chicagoland Powered by the Law Office of Nicholas W. Richardson, P.C., will open on January 5, 2015 and close on April 1, 2015.
