“The greatest tragedy is not failing, but giving up and not trying again. “Rest a while but never quit.” So says the Reverend Pastor Sam Rachal, Jr. in his spiritually-enriching, debut book, titled Failure is Not Final. Having experienced and triumphed over seemingly hopeless situations, the author rekindles the spark of faith and hope to those who have given up on life’s trials and tribulations by sharing how God delivered him from affliction by working in him and through him.

From his developing years to his transition from Catholicism to Protestantism, Rachal’s life has been a series of twists and turns. The Lord always led him where he least expected to go, including being a pastor of Mount Zion Missionary, WA Baptist Church in Bremerton, WA. Even more surprising for him were the ups and downs of shepherding a flock that often disagreed with him. And when his marriage fell apart and his relationship with another woman was questioned by the church board, all the pastor could do was rely on the goodness of the Lord. He did not fail him.

In this book, the author inspires readers to not construe failure as the end in life. Failures and disappointments are integral parts of human existence. Thus, in times of trials, one ought to hold on to the rope of hope and faith, trusting God that all will be well at the end of the day. In the aftermath, the lessons of humility, steadfastness and hope are important. After all, building on weaknesses and learning from negative experiences thrusts a person to higher grounds from a heavy spiritual fall.

A faith-fortifying memoir that will make readers realize the power of forgiveness and how, even when mistakes seem irreparable, the Lord can use them for good. Failure is Not Final is the inspiring and deeply honest take of one pastor, his relationship to his congregation where he led, and his efforts to follow the Lord.
