The Tourism Authority of Thailand Wins Digital Innovation Asia Award
(PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- The Digital Innovation Asia Awards are held in partnership with the Pacific Asia Travel Association. Digital Innovation Asia is an initiative that seeks to encourage quality and expertise in the use of digital technology, social media and ICT in promoting the travel and tourism industry in Asia. The award ceremony was held at the fashionable and ultra modern Bed Supperclub in Bangkok. The DIA Awards are supervised by members of the Digital Innovation Asia Council, an exclusive panel of influential executives in e-commerce and digital marketing from hotels, airlines and tourist boards from across the Asia Pacific region.
TAT won the award for its digital marketing of The Little Big Project. This volunteer tourism competition was funded by TAT to encourage international tourists to take a volunteer vacation in Thailand. TAT appealed to tourists to consider the positive impact their voluntary work would have on the lives of others, together with encouraging them to embrace the life changing opportunities this has to offer.
The contestants were invited to participate in a number of fulfilling and worthwhile projects. These included helping disadvantaged young people, community building projects in rural locations and volunteer healthcare programmes. There were also a number of projects that supported wildlife conservation, marine research and rescue, and elephant conservation. The overall winners of the competition will be awarded a grant of $5,000 (USD) to contribute towards the continued funding of their chosen project.
TAT governor, Mr Suraphon Svetasreni, expressed how pleased he was that TAT marketing efforts had been recognised in this way. He explained that The Little Big Project was their first campaign aimed at a very specific niche-market that included mainly young people and also an increasing number of retirees. Consequently, the digital marketing of this project was well suited to the target audience.
A project of this type demonstrates how proactive the Kingdom of Thailand is in giving development opportunities to those who wish to volunteer, whilst also improving conditions for its people and its wildlife. What’s more, Thailand still has much to interest those travellers who do not feel able to volunteer during their vacation. For example, in the beautiful province of Krabi, tourists can experience elephant trekking, rock climbing or scuba diving, and there are also some outstanding beaches for those seeking a more relaxed style of holiday. In addition, Krabi Riviera Co Ltd provides an excellent selection of holiday villas that would suit couples, families or groups of friends. All Krabi Rivera villas offer 5 star comfort, including private swimming pools, a personal concierge service, and some first-rate complimentary services.
With the combination of such excellent facilities, a dynamic tourist authority, and an award winning marketing strategy, it seems the future of tourism in Thailand is in safe hands.
