Patelco Credit Union Adds Social Twist to Holiday Fundraiser Using CafeGive Social Tools
Deerwood, IL (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- For decades, Patelco Credit Union has successfully raised funds for causes through their network of branches throughout Northern California and Deerfield, IL. Due to the changing needs of consumers and growth of online banking, the financial services industry has seen an 85% decline in people visiting branches. To continue to support the community, Patelco had to get creative and find other ways to reach their members and encourage fundraising for the causes that they support. Using the digital cause marketing tools offered by CafeGive Social, Patelco has expanded their fundraising efforts to social media for the second year in a row.
From November 1 through December 31st, Patelco Credit Union is running a new kind of donation experience that combines in-branch fundraising with online fundraising on Patelco's Facebook page. Members of the credit union, as well as fans and supporters, can now donate at any of Patelco's 40-plus branch locations, or through social media.
For as little as a dollar, members can "buy" a paper snowman in a Patelco branch, add their name to the paper cut-out, and pin it to the wall of the branch in recognition of their support of the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals. For the second year in a row, Patelco is using CafeGive Social's Pin Up Wall App for Facebook. The app combines the fun of paper icons with the ease of social media: people can make a donation online, choose a snowman icon, and pin it to Patelco's virtual donor wall on their Facebook page.
“With CafeGive Social's online support of our annual CU4Kids Campaign, we are able to capture the support of the community and document donations even if members are unable to visit a branch," said Sharon Tallon, Community Outreach Officer. "All donations, both in-branch and online, support the three Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals within our membership network, and it's another way that Patelco continues to support our local communities and uphold the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”.”
In 2013, Patelco Credit Union raised over $18,000 in online and offline donations using the fundraising tool from CafeGive Social, and this year, Patelco aims to raise $25,000 through combined in-branch and online donations.
The unique app provides a new channel for the credit union to drive its fundraising and social responsibility efforts while connecting people in the Patelco community. Even people who aren’t members of the credit union or who live hundreds of miles away from the nearest branch, can make a donation and add their snowman to the virtual donor wall.
After making a donation, fans and supporters can help increase the impact of the campaign by sharing it to their personal Facebook and Twitter, and help raise even more funds. One hundred percent of donations go towards supporting CU4Kids, an initiative created to unite credit unions in support of the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals.
