Patio Productions is at San Diego Film Fest as Official Furniture Sponsor
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) October 12, 2018 -- San Diego based outdoor furniture retailer and manufacturer Patio Productions is the official furniture sponsor of this year's annual San Diego International Film Festival, taking place this weekend. The festival kicked off Wednesday October 10 and continues through Sunday October 14th. The festival has various parties and events located at several distinct venues around San Diego, and each of these venues feature VIP areas and outdoor lounges for guests to relax and enjoy all the festival has to offer beyond just films. Patio Productions is sponsoring these VIP and outdoor lounge areas by providing modern patio furniture to the event.
The SD Film Festival is produced every year by the San Diego Film Foundation. The festival is considered to be the region’s premier showcase for outstanding U.S. and International independent filmmaking, as stated on the Festival's official website. But the festival also features many first-screenings of high-profile studio prestige films. In the past, such films as '12 Years a Slave' and 'Lion' have premiered at the festival.
The San Diego Film Foundation's mission statement is its ongoing dedication to "creating empathy through the experience of film." The foundation supports the notion that cinema, especially, can be transformative. They believe films can connect with audiences in deeply personal and powerful ways, in a way that other mediums cannot. The language of film, then, becomes a dialogue with the audience that explores global issues and human experiences in an ever-increasingly diverse and complicated world.
This mission statement is a profoundly personal one to Patio Productions CEO Ben Harvey, an avid appreciator and patron of the arts who is a self-styled Creative in his own right. "We're providing furniture to this event as a way to market our business, yes," says Harvey, "but it's more than just marketing - by putting our furniture out there for people to enjoy, at all these events, we are making a statement that we stand with the mission of the festival. That we believe in the power of art, and specifically film, to engender compassion and empathy in people. Which in today's, let's call it 'heated,' political climate and growingly complex world, is all the more important. It's vital that we learn to, and strive to, empathize and understand each other. To connect. To care."
Patio Productions began in 2010 as an online-only retailer, but by 2012, they became a brick and mortar storefront as well. The company began manufacturing its own line of furniture, designed by Harvey under the name Harmonia Living, in 2013. This new line was intended to fill a gap in the furniture market for high-quality products that are priced somewhere between the high end and the low end of the furniture spectrum. By making massive operational and logistical improvements, and cutting out middlemen, Harvey's brand is able to deliver very high quality and beautifully designed furnishings that cost significantly less than most other premium brands. The company also prides itself on giving creative control to its customers: Patio Productions offers more custom fabrics and customizability of its furniture than most manufacturers.
Patio Productions' furniture will be showcased at the Box Office Headquarters at Horton Plaza 10/10 through 10/14, and at the VIP Lounges at the Regal Theaters and the ArcLight UTC Theaters Outdoor VIP Lounge 10/12 through 10/14. The company is also the official outdoor furniture provider for the Horton Outdoor Plaza Friday Night Party 10/12, which should draw a large turnout of festival-goers.
