EMCO Remote Shutdown is a Windows application that allows network administrators to manage Windows PCs remotely
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 01, 2014
EMCO Software, a leading provider of power management software for Windows networks, has announced the availability of a new version of its EMCO Remote Shutdown software application. The new version of the application is designed to simplify using Wake-on-LAN operations and error troubleshooting.
EMCO Remote Shutdown is a Windows application that allows network administrators to manage Windows PCs remotely. Network administrators can install the application to a desktop server and manage remote PCs over a LAN/WAN remotely. The supported operations include remote shutdown, reboot, wake-up, locking and unlocking of input devices, and sending text notifications to remote PCs.
The new version of EMCO Remote Shutdown doesn't require network administrators to install any client software manually. The client software modules required to manage PCs remotely are automatically installed by the application onto remote PCs at the first use. EMCO Remote Shutdown automatically updates client modules when required and allows network administrators to uninstall client modules when the PCs need not be managed anymore.
Network administrators can have operations performed on remote PCs on demand or schedule them for an automatic execution. The application works as a Windows service, so the scheduled operations will be automatically executed even if the administrator doesn't start the application or logs off from the computer where the application is installed. The scheduled operations can be automatically repeated according to a defined pattern, so the administrators can create daily, weekly or monthly tasks, etc.
The new version of EMCO Remote Shutdown includes an extended set of Wake-on-LAN delivery methods. Depending on the particular network structure, network administrators can configure the application to send WOL packets using broadcast, unicast or directed broadcast methods.
"The new version of EMCO Remote Shutdown simplifies the usage of the Wake-on-LAN feature in corporate networks. Depending on the network topology and infrastructure, network administrators can choose the WOL delivery method that guarantees WOL packet delivery in a specific network and ensures that the WOL feature works as expected," Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.
