Keith Brown Named Principal of Phoenix College Prep Academy
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- Phoenix College is proud to announce the naming of the new principal of the Phoenix College Preparatory Academy (PCPA), Keith Brown, following a competitive search. Coming to PCPA from Skyline Prep High and South Valley Prep & Arts Academy, Brown brings years of experience in the classroom, the football field, and the principal’s office.
While at Skyline Prep and South Valley Prep & Arts Academy, Brown experienced success at the helm of the schools, achieving high AIMS scores. “Your AIMS score and school grade are what you strive for as a principal,” said Brown, “so we were proud of what we accomplished, especially with it being a new school.”
Previously, Brown served as a teacher and football coach at Casa Grande High School. He also has 18 years of head coaching experience, including 10 years at Phoenix Christian High School where he led the Cougars to multiple successful football seasons.
Experiencing previous successes, Brown is excited to hit the ground running and make an impact at PCPA. “I am very excited about the parents, students, and teachers I have met so far,” said Brown. “We have some exciting years in front of us.”
Brown is already laying out plans for PCPA with goals of increasing the school’s enrollment to 75 for the upcoming school year and reaching 100 for the following year. With an increased enrollment, Brown hopes to bring a more robust offering to students, including performing arts and athletics.
Most importantly, Brown is excited about the opportunities offered to students at PCPA, including access to facilities on the Phoenix College campus—computer labs, science labs and libraries—as well as the ability for qualified students to take college courses for credit while still in high school. Brown believes these resources will result in high student achievement.
“We are very excited to welcome Keith as principal,” said Dr. Casandra Kakar, vice president of academic affairs at Phoenix College. “His history working with charter high schools and his passion for student success will make him a great leader for PCPA.”
