Pembina County, N.D., Begins E-Recording with Simplifile
PEMBINA COUNTY, N.D. (PRWEB) April 10, 2014 -- Pembina County has initiated electronic recording (e-recording) of land documents with Simplifile, the largest e-recording service provider, enabling customers to submit documents including deeds and mortgages via the Internet for faster, more efficient recording.
“We are always striving to increase efficiencies in our office,” said Pembina County Clerk and Recorder Kay Braget. “We need to keep up with advances in technology that ensure documents are recorded in a timely manner. E-recording through Simplifile is a tool that assists in achieving those goals.”
Now that Pembina County is e-recording, title companies, attorneys, banks, and other recording customers both locally and nationally can save money on paper and mailing expenses by submitting their documents electronically.
“E-recording speeds up the recording process by allowing submitters to send their documents over the Internet, which results in same-business-day recording of mortgages and miscellaneous documents,” Braget said.
According to Braget, the county’s first electronically recorded document was a 17-page mortgage, and it was recorded the same day it was submitted to the county.
“It was quick and easy,” said Braget. “No need to open the mail…and we didn’t need postage to send the 17-page document back to the submitter. All of that was taken care of through Simplifile.”
E-recording also helps to reduce payment errors and rejected documents, giving customers the ability to securely process recording fees electronically along with their recorded documents, eliminating check-writing expenses and check-handling at the recorder’s office.
Pembina County joins 15 other e-recording counties in the state of North Dakota and more than 1,060 total e-recording jurisdictions nationwide.
