Nick Perdomo Continues His Series on Tobacco Farming and Cigar Making

You can have the best materials and the best people working for you, but if your construction isn't on par every single day, your quality is going to suffer and your brand will eventually fail.

The all-new Cigar Advisor is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor has just published “Tobacco Farming Part 8”, November's installment of the ongoing exposé on the making of cigars by Nick Perdomo, CEO of Tabacalera Perdomo.

This month's installment details some of the final stages of the tobacco farming process including stripping and sorting of the tobacco leaves that is done just prior to rolling the cigars, the final aging process, quality control, and how to roll large ring-gauge cigars.

Nick Perdomo places a huge amount of emphasis on quality control. There are a variety of procedures in place to ensure Perdomo cigars are the highest possible quality. In the section where Mr. Perdomo explains the draw testing process, he says "You can have the best materials and the best people working for you, but if your construction isn't on par every single day, your quality is going to suffer and your brand will eventually fail. That's why we draw test every single cigar that comes off the rolling tables. Called pressure drop testing, it is one of the most important factors when it comes to making cigars that draw consistently well."

The piece details a number of other subtle differences in Perdomo's cigar-making techniques that set him apart from the competition. From utilizing stainless steel rolling tables instead of the traditional wooden ones to adding extra aging time after the cigars are rolled, Nick Perdomo is always looking for a way to ensure his cigars are the best.
