Oregon Personal Injury Attorney, Dan Rayfield, Sworn in as House District 16 Representative to the Oregon State Legislature
Corvallis, OR (PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- Dan Rayfield, a personal injury attorney at Nelson MacNeil Rayfield, was officially sworn in as State Representative on January 12, 2015. Rayfield represents House District 16 which includes Corvallis, Philomath and encompasses Oregon State University. Rayfield defeated Republican challenger Jacob D. Vandever in November’s general election, taking 72.1 percent of the total votes. He garnered 16,797 total votes to Vandever’s 6,379.
“It is an honor and privilege to have earned the trust and support of the voters in House District 16,” said Rayfield. “My goal is to represent them in the Oregon Legislature while fighting for Oregon families across the state.”
Core issues Rayfield plans to tackle during his time as a representative include prioritizing high-quality education, strengthening the Oregon economy, protecting the Mid-Valley quality of life, and ensuring that Oregon citizens have access to affordable and reliable healthcare. Rayfield succeeds five-term Representative Sara Gelser, who won a very contentious Senate race and now represents Senate District 8, which lies over the top of Representative Rayfield's District.
Rayfield is a product of Oregon’s public schools, attending Tigard High School. Rayfield graduated from Western Oregon University in 2003 and earned his law degree from Willamette University in 2006, including clerking for the Benton County District Attorney’s Office. Rayfield spent his first couple years practicing general civil litigation before joining the firm of Nelson & MacNeil PC. In 2014, Rayfield became a partner with the firm and the trio formed Nelson MacNeil Rayfield Trial Attorneys PC, an Oregon law firm well-versed in personal injury practice areas ranging from auto accidents to wrongful death.
“I have always wanted a career that allowed me to stand up to large interests and fight to level the playing for those who need advocacy,” said Rayfield.
