Time for a New Cancer Symbol - The Phoenix Heart® for Survivors, Warriors and Conquerors
Portola Valley, CA (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- showtheLOVE™, an eco-friendly, inspirational jewelry company, announces the Phoenix Heart® pendant, a new symbol of strength for cancer patients, survivors, and for those who are in solidarity with them. 100% of the profits from the Phoenix Heart® are donated to one of three cancer foundations chosen by the buyer (Cancer Research Institute, Breast Cancer Coalition, or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center).
Phoenix Heart® designer, Jen Pleasants, has known too many friends and family who have suffered with cancer. She states, “Anyone who has ever heard the diagnosis of cancer deserves a medal for his or her courageous fight against the disease, as do the caretakers and supporters who help with their battle. This is why we have designed the Phoenix Heart®, our own version of a ‘purple heart’, to be worn with pride as a badge of honor for the bravest of warriors.” An inscription on the back of the pendant reads “Rise Up,” reminding the wearers that, even in the toughest battles, they, too, like a legendary phoenix, can rise up from the ashes and conquer the disease.
According to cancer.org, about 1,660,290 new cancer cases are to be diagnosed just in 2013. When someone is battling cancer, it affects not just the single patient but an entire community of his or her friends and family. showtheLOVE™ wants to help not only by lifting up the spirits of the people afflicted but also by raising funds for cancer research through sales of the Phoenix Heart®.
The Phoenix Heart®, a unisex piece, is a new symbol for such a courageous fight. The Phoenix Heart® is a wonderful gift for anyone whose life has been affected in any way by cancer. It is a medal for warriors and a talisman that they can see, feel and find strength in. It is currently available as a necklace, pin, cuff, baseball hat and sweatshirt.
Jen Pleasants and Amy Salisbury started showtheLOVE™ (STL) just under two years ago with hopes that their pieces bring inspiration, positivity, power, love and strength to women and men. Each piece is crafted with recycled metals and ethically sourced stones and a minimum of five percent of STL profits are donated to water.org. Jen and Amy hope that those wearing their jewelry will ‘show the love’ for themselves, for others, and for the Earth.
