Plano, TX (PRWEB) August 31, 2015
The existing playground at Christie Elementary in Plano, Texas, had met the end of its life cycle. The board at the Plano Independent School District needed to get the old structures removed, and new, more modern school playground equipment purchased, shipped, and installed before the fall semester begins at the end of August. They found APCPLAY online, and were able to get the new playground up in a timely and affordable manner.
Christie Elementary was built in 1973, and is named after Charles Mott Christi, a native of Plano, TX. The Christie family is known for their hardware store opened in the 1950s that helped mechanize area farms, and for Charles's descendant, C.J. Christie, who served on the School Board during that decade. The school last underwent major renovations in the mid 1990s, so the new playground was a welcome upgrade.
APCPLAY helped Plano ISD decide on two commercial play structures, each designed with a particular age group in mind and activities to challenge them in their unique stage of development. The "Addison Rose" structure features six activity panels, a double slide, three different styles of climbers, talk tubes, and is designed for children ages 2 to 5 years old. It can accommodate as many as 32 kids, and only has a four foot fall height so that young children are challenged, but not beyond a level that is unsafe at their size and age.
The school also chose the "Breckenridge" play structure for their school playground, which has equipment designed for both the 2-5 and 5-12 age groups. Housing play elements that span both age ranges allows for a graduated amount of challenge. As children grow in both size and confidence level, they will move to the more risky play items. This structure has four different kinds of sliding activities at various heights and configurations. There is the Alpine Thunder Slide that has three side-by-side slides at the tallest platform, and a dual slide at a middle deck level, both of which encourage socialization in older children as they race down to the bottom together.
The "Breckenridge" play structure from APCPLAY also has three styles of climbers to make sure the students at Christie Elementary remain physically active, and have fun outdoor fitness opportunities that they might not get in a P.E. class. The structure is also home to four activity panels which provide educational and imaginative play opportunities. There is also a square plastic roof to provide shade and partial UV protection during recess.
With both commercial play structures installed, thanks to the assistance of the playground professionals at APCPLAY, the elementary is poised to start the school year with an upgraded playground that the incoming students will enjoy. The district is happy to know that, due to the high-quality construction and industry-leading warranty, future students will also enjoy the playground equipment for many years to come.
