Pocket Nurse® Celebrates Local Simulation Alliance's One-Year Anniversary
MONACA, Pa. (PRWEB) November 28, 2018 -- On Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 Pocket Nurse celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Simulation Alliance of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia (SimPOW) at their corporate headquarters in Monaca.
Attendees celebrated SimPOW’s anniversary during their three-hour November session. SimPOW founders Suzan Kardong-Edgren and Dana Bargerstock were recognized in the opening session. Attendees enjoyed a commemorative cake. Pocket Nurse raffled 14 products as free giveaways to attendees including a LIFEPAK® 20 defibrillator valued at over $5,000.
Kardong-Edgren and Bargerstock from Robert Morris University created SimPOW as a free forum for healthcare educators in nursing and allied health programs to network and learn industry trends and best practices.
The group’s first meeting had fewer than 10 attendees. The November 2018 session had over 50 RSVPs.
“These educators are preparing future healthcare professionals to save lives,” said President and CEO of Pocket Nurse Anthony Battaglia, MS, BSN, RN. “Simulation alliances help them develop curriculum and work with students to improve patient outcomes.”
The November session included three presentations from educators in nursing and career technical education (CTE). Attendees learned about recruitment and training for simulated participants, simulation in career technical education (CTE), and digital resources in simulation.
“Pocket Nurse was founded to help healthcare educators,” said President and CEO Anthony Battaglia, MS, BSN, RN. “We couldn’t miss an opportunity to support SimPOW and make educators’ lives easier.”
SimPOW’s growth over the last year includes a new planning committee to formalize decision-making. Members are empowered to join the committee and influence the direction of the group.
