Multipost Retail Systems, a Leading Provider of Point of Sale Solutions, Comments on Projected 5-Year Growth in Canadian Online Retail Sales
Markham, Canada (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Multipost Retail Systems (http://www.multipost.ca), a leader in point of sale (POS) and inventory management and control systems for small- to mid-sized retailers, is releasing its comments on Canada’s online retail environment and the projected online sales growth over the next five years.
According to the latest data, online retail sales in Canada now outpace sales growth at traditional brick-and-mortar stores. It is a transition that will forever change the Canadian retail environment, and one that businesses of every size will need to adopt in order to succeed. According to the report, online shoppers in Canada will spend $20.0 billion in 2013 and account for seven percent of all retail sales, up more than 30% from $15.0 billion in 2010. Those strong sales are expected to continue for the next five years, with online retail sales experiencing an annual compound growth rate of 10%. By 2018, online sales are projected to reach $39.0 billion and account for 10% of all total retail transactions in Canada. During that same time frame, total retail growth in Canada, both online and offline, will inch up just 2.8%. (Source: ibid.)
“Online retail sales in Canada will continue to become more and more popular, as younger shoppers become increasingly more comfortable with the idea of e-commerce,” says Greg Smith, sales manager at Multipost Retail Systems. “As a result, online retail sales growth will continue to expand, capturing an increasingly larger percentage of retail sales.”
According to Smith, much of the growth in Canadian e-commerce sales will come from online retailers improving both their web sites and services. When it comes to improving user experience, retailers need to customize the products and services they offer for each potential customer. The real challenges for Canadian retailers with an online presence are figuring out how to offer a personalized service to each user, make relevant recommendations, and turn visitors into repeat customers.
“It doesn’t matter what kind of retail environment a brand works in, whether it’s sporting goods, appliances, jewellery, electronics, shoes, etc., as our Smart Vendor software is ideally suited for any business,” Smith concludes. “On top of that, at Multipost Retail Systems, we take a proactive approach to e-commerce, helping small- and medium-size businesses design and develop systems uniquely tailored to the responsive needs of both the retailer and their customer base.”
