PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano honors the memory of Martin Luther King Jr., giving back to the community by partnering with the National Marrow Donor Program and Chosen 300 Ministries.
To promote Dr. King's message of social justice, the Firm is participating in two events, demonstrating its commitment to of engage with the community on a local, national and global levels.
During work hours, the Firm will hold a donation drive for the National Marrow Donor Program's Be the Match initiative. Be the Match is a registry that pairs donors with patients battling blood disorders like leukemia, sickle cell diseases and lymphoma. These diseases hit African-American patients particularly hard since more than one in three cannot find a marrow match.
With Dr. King's iconic 1963 "I have a dream" speech providing the inspiration, cards will be distributed throughout the office to staff and clients, who will be asked to write down a "dream" they have on one of the cards. Those dreams can range from hopes for social justice and world peace to personal and work life changes. Pond Lehocky will make a base donation to the National Marrow Donor Program, increasing that amount by $1 for every "dream" collected.
After work, 10 volunteers will be going to Chosen 300 Ministries' facility in Center City to help serve dinner to the homeless. The volunteers will greet guests, prepare meals, serve meals and clean up. Chosen 300 is an interdenominational mission with locations throughout Philadelphia. It provides help to the homeless and less fortunate.
Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano opened its doors in July 2010 with six attorneys and only 22 total staff members. Today, it is the largest workers' compensation and Social Security disability law firm in the region, boasting 12 office locations and over 200 staff members. The Firm opened its Pittsburgh location in 2016 and has also recently expanded into new practice areas for workers, including employment law and long-term disability.
