Franciscan Media to Publish Commemorative Book Detailing Pope Francis’ 2015 Pilgrimage Visit to the U.S.
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- Franciscan Media Books, an imprint of Franciscan Media, announced today that it has partnered with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic News Service to release the official commemorative book documenting Pope Francis’ historic September 19-27, 2015, pilgrimage to Cuba and the United States. "Love Is Our Mission: Pope Francis in America" will feature gorgeous photographs and on-the-scene reporting from Catholic News Service, which will have special close-up access throughout the pope’s visit. The editorial team of Franciscan Media’s St. Anthony Messenger, the national, Catholic family magazine, will compile the book.
This event will mark Pope Francis’ first trip to the U.S., with two million Americans expected to attend the liturgies, speeches, and festivities. Leading up to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, the pope will make a historic visit to Washington, D.C., where he will address both houses of Congress, meet at the White House with President Barack Obama, and canonize St. Junipero Serra, the California Franciscan missionary and first U.S. Hispanic saint. Photographers and journalists from Catholic News Service will document the entire trip in vivid detail for the book.
“This partnership between Franciscan Media and Catholic News Service is an exciting partnership designed to bring Catholic media giants together for an in-depth look at the pope’s visit,” said Father Daniel Kroger, chief executive officer and publisher of Franciscan Media. “We are excited to help capture this historic event and to bring this book to the public so soon after the World Meeting of Families and just in time for the holidays.”
Set to release at the end of October, just one month after the pope’s visit, "Love Is Our Mission: Pope Francis in America" is a joint publication of Franciscan Media, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Libreria Editrice Vaticana, the official publishing house of the Vatican. The 128-page glossy hardcover will be an ideal gift for American Catholics and Christians who either attended or wished and were unable to attend the festivities of Pope Francis’ first visit to this country.
“We at Catholic News Service are very happy to work with our old friends at Franciscan Media on chronicling Pope Francis’ momentous trip to Cuba and the United States,” said Tony Spence, director and editor in chief at Catholic News Service. “While our work will be seen by millions in various media, this book will compile stories and images of the trip in a single volume readers can enjoy time and again, thanks to the skilled publishers of Franciscan Media.”
