Home Care Assistance – Halton/Peel Region, a Top Provider of In-Home Care, Release Post-Cardiac Care Guides in Observation of Heart Month
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- Home Care Assistance – Halton/Peel Region (http://www.GreaterTorontoHomeCare.ca), the area’s leading provider of non-medical, in-home senior care, is announcing the release of two guides on caring for seniors recovering from cardiac disease: Patient’s Guide to Cardiac Rehabilitation and Patient’s Guide to Post-Stroke Care.
“With heart disease and stroke being the leading causes of death for women in Canada and a third of deaths overall, finding ways to combat cardiac disease is crucial,” says Rick Heinz, owner of Home Care Assistance – Halton/Peel Region. “Heart disease is an extremely serious problem in Canada and in all of North America, and even those who are able to survive it may encounter some form of disability. We need to do better in this area, which is why we are promoting these care guides.”
Heinz explains that the aim of these guides is to increase the overall awareness regarding the disease amongst those affected by it and the people taking care of them. According to Home Care Assistance president Lily Sarafan, each guide “helps patients take the important steps to support recovery and rehabilitation while providing families with peace of mind and resources they can draw on in the community.”
According to Heinz, about one in five patients return to the hospital within 30 days of being discharged after a heart attack or congestive heart failure. That shows a lack of education when it comes to home care. “We at Home Care Assistance – Halton/Peel Region take education very seriously,” Heinz concludes. “We provide an abundance of resources to our caregivers about how to deal with these patients once they have returned home and make that same information accessible to the public as well, so that families may get a better understanding of the procedures.”
