PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After Inge Buus's death to dementia in January 2018, author Glenn Peterson began writing "The Girl from Copenhagen" to record the experiences that shaped her into an incredible wife and mother. Growing up on a family farm on the island of Falster in Denmark in the 1920s, Buus didn't identify with being a farm girl and worked hard to graduate at the top of her high school class. After moving to Copenhagen to begin her career, life changed with the Nazi invasion of Denmark.
The frequent bombings and shootings within the city became her new normal. Peterson describes the intense confrontations by armed soldiers and her dangerous work producing engines for German U-boats. Then, Buss finds romance with a GI from America and chooses to leave her world in Denmark behind for a new adventure with him in New York City. Her astounding life story is detailed up until her death at the age of ninety-four.
"I wrote this book largely based on stories my mother told me of her life in Denmark, jogging my memory by studying pictures in my mother's photo album, and by reading old letters my mother had saved from her mother." the author said.
Those who long to learn more about the unique individuals living during this turbulent time in history will connect with Inge's story. Her journey as a student, women, wife, mother, and immigrant will touch readers and showcase the importance of living life to the fullest and with a sense of adventure.
"The Girl from Copenhagen" presents a unique perspective of a young woman living during the Nazi occupation of Denmark and the strong family connections she established during her lifetime in this captivating book that is sure to resonate with readers.
