“We are pleased to see this federal proceeding moving forward as we continue to hear from individuals who allegedly suffered the serious internal bleeding side effects associated with Pradaxa,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free case evaluations to patients who may have suffered injuries caused by Pradaxa.
The federal Pradaxa lawsuit litigation currently pending in Illinois is continuing to move forward. According to court documents, a Case Management Order issued on August 9th established some limitations addressing certain ex parte communications regarding claims filed in the proceeding, which has scheduled its first bellwether trial to start in September 2014.
Claims filed over the blood thinner manufactured by Boehringer-Ingelheim allege the company failed to warn consumers about the health risks associated with Pradaxa, a drug used to prevent strokes in patients with a heart-rhythm disorder known as atrial fibrillation. The lawsuits further allege that the company neglected to mention that since there is no readily available antidote to stop episodes of internal bleeding, side effects from the blood thinner may lead to death.
A recent article from Bloomberg.com reported that the drug was marketed as an improvement to warfarin, a medication that has been prescribed to people with this condition for decades.** Meanwhile, Pradaxa patients are continuing to file lawsuits alleging such side effects as cerebral hemorrhaging, gastrointestinal bleeding, and severe Pradaxa internal bleeding following a minor trauma. In the worst-case scenario, this injury may turn fatal due to the fact that there is no readily available antidote for Pradaxa, according to Bloomberg.com. By contrast, the administration of vitamin K has been used to stop hemorrhaging in those taking warfarin.
If you or a loved one suffered the life-threatening side effects associated with Pradaxa, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit seeking compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.Learn More about Pradaxa internal bleeding side effects by visiting Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s website.
